CLASS OF 1926
APRIL 1929 Charles D. Webster

Three things loom large on the '26 horizon right now. One is the Alumni Fund, another the third reunion in June, and then there is the matter of "a young man's fancy" and several matrimonial ventures in the immediate offing.

Glancing at the MAGAZINE columns of that class we so handily defeated in a memorable picture fight, just before doing away with that institution (the fight), classmates will probably see that 1925 is pretty serious about this business of beating '26 in the Fund campaign which has just started and which ends June 30. Pete Kelsey, the chief of the '25 forces, and Sid Hay ward have put up a wager that when the list of Fund contributors is broadcast on April 30 either '26 will win or Mr. Kelsey and '25 will be $10 to the good. Sid says that if we have the better showing at that time the proceeds of the bet will be entered among the gifts of the class as an

"anonymous contribution."

There's only one thing to be done about this. Let's send in our mites or our millions right now.

They've given us a big quota this year. But with more than 400 in the class we ought to make the grade if everybody gives something. But '25 must be subdued on April 30. That's the first thing.

Clyde Hall accepts reunion chairmanship. This is a relief, it might be added, since Hally needed the combined urging of twenty-sixers from Maine to Ritchie Smith and Bill Nigh. With this up-and-coming Boston lad at the helm things are looking decidedly up. June 15-18 are the dates and let Clyde know at the Boston Herald if you have any ideas or questions.

Hally says there is something in the air about making the third very different from anything of the kind ever held in Hanover and it won't be long before you hear from him and his committee. He hopes to get hold of one of the Mass. Row dorms, instead of Reed which is the traditional place to house the youngest reuners. So that means maybe we'll see some of the wives we've heard so much about, because you'll have a good place to stay which is more than can be said of Reed.

About the biggest thing socially in Chicago right now is Del Worthington's approaching marriage to Miss Leota Wilma Cresmer, April 9. Ritchie is coming from the Golden Gate to officiate as Del's best man, breaking many hearts with his stunning appearance in the soup and fish. Don Cobleigh is breaking away from Hanover teaching to play the organ and most of Del's old buddies in Boston, New York, Detroit and other near and distant points will be on hand to make the Worthington's joy complete. We must have a full report of this later.

Bill Fish marries Miss Helen B. Bogart, Skidmore '27, at White Plains on April 5. They will live at 45 Mitchell Place.

This ceremony has already been performed —that of Miss Mary Mook and Walter Root Armstrong, Jr. Mary and Walter were married at St. Louis, March 23.

Understand that Whit Blair will be married in June and will wind up his honeymoon with the reunion in Hanover. Not a bad idea for you fellers who haven't yet made up your minds.

Red Merrill and Barbara Black, who announced their engagement some time ago, will be married in June.

Mrs. Walker says she is going to outdo her best outdoings for '26 at the Norwich Inn, Saturday, June 15.
