With apologies to Dick Blum for some items that duplicate his newsletter, '53 OUT, I submit the following:
Fred Hitt is certainly one of our most active classmates. There seems to be a new clipping about him almost every month. He was recently appointed to the advisory board for the Cheshire office of the Home National Bank and Trust Company. Some of his other accomplishments include chairman of the Cheshire Red Cross, United Fund and Rotary Club activities, and last but not least, raising three children.
Bob MacNally is the new manager of manufacturing for Ideal Roller of Chicago, a unit of W. R. Grace & Company's Dewey and Almy Chemical Division in Cambridge, Mass. He has responsibility for production of printing and industrial rollers and other rubber products in five plants throughout the country but will continue to live in Winchester, Mass., with wife Beth and their four children. Bob joined Dewey and Almy in 1958, and most recently was manager of purchasing and traffic.
I usually talk to Phil Fast several times a month, but I had to read a press release to find out that he was named a second vice president of Smith Barney and Company. Phil is a senior member of the firm's pension fund investment department, located at the main office in New York City.
Burt Dorsett is another classmate who seems to be frequently appearing in press releases. The latest announces that Burt has been elected to the Board of Trustees of Keuka College. As previously reported, he works for the University of Rochester where he supervises their investment program.
Jack Newton will be again heading-up the 1968 Alumni Fund Campaign for our Class this year. He's got his work cut-out for him what with the Fifteenth Reunion and the Third Century Fund overshadowing his efforts. In addition to his Alumni Fund work and making a living as a C.P.A. with Arthur Andersen and Company, Jack was recently elected treasurer of the Appalachian Mountain Club. This organization is America's oldest climbing and hiking organization and has about 11,000 members all across the eastern seaboard. If this isn't enough, Jack also serves as treasurer of the Sigma Nu House Corporation, his fraternity at Dartmouth. With all the money he is handling, I'd be a little worried that if he appeared in South America, it might not be for mountain climbing. Getting back to the business at hand, Jack needs new class agents and if any of you can volunteer, contact him at 851 Coventry Lane, Norwood, Mass.
A birth announcement from Paris advised me that Mr. and Mrs. Addison (Chip) Luce had a baby girl, Susannah Reynolds, on January 9. Chip is one of the pioneers on the '53 European contingent, having been there in the banking business for several years.
After several years in Pittsburgh, GeorgeKeagle has been transferred to Chicago. His title with U.S. Steel Corporation is General Supervisor of Accounting. George is making his home in nearby Homewood, Illinois.
It's my sad duty to report that WarrenYetter was killed in an automobile accident in Perrysburg, Ohio, last February 21. I know all of you join me in extending our sympathies to his family.
An award for three years of outstandingservice is presented Army Doctor (Lt.Col.) Pete Patterson '53 (l) at Fort SamHouston.
