Fakes Forward Pass, Runs 50 Yards to Score

Wolff Grabs Toss for First TallyAgainst Bewildered Cornell

(Special Dispatch to Globe)

Hanover, N. H„ Nov. 16—Dartmouth defeated Cornell in their big home game of the season here this afternoon by a 26-0 score, the Big Green flashing superb football to completely rout the Ithacans.

Led by A 1 Marsters, who enjoyed a brilliant afternoon, Dartmouth got the jump on Cornell from the opening kickoff, and only did the attack lapse after the Green had piled up a safe margin in the first half. Marsters was personally responsible for three Green touchdowns, passing to Wolff for one in the first period and scoring two himself. McCall counted the Green's last touchdown in the third period, after Cannell had sent in his reserves against Cornell. Handleman, sophomore Cornell back, and Kanich, the veteran, did the best offensive work for the Red, the for mer plowing off the Dartmouth tackles for a variety of gains late in the second half. Cornell threatened to score in the third period, when Kanich and Johnson worked the Dartmouth tackles for a 45-yard march, but they were abruptly halted when the Green first string linemen, Armstrong and Barber, returned to the game.

Marsters Scores

Dartmouth took the opening kickoff, by Wakeman, on the Indian 10-yard line, and run back by Marsters was good for 20 yards. Wolff slid off tackle for seven more, and Sutton plunged through for first down. Dartmouth then opened up her offense, and a beautiful forward pass, Wolff to Marsters, carried the ball to the Cornell 10-yard line. Marsters, on a wide end run, evaded Champion of Cornell for the first Green score

The second Dartmouth touchdown came in a spectacular manner. The Green had worked the ball to midfield, when Marsters, from a fake-punt formation, bluffed a forward pass, then circled and sidestepped through the entire Cornell team for a 50-yard run and touchdown. It was easily the most spectacular run of the game, and only Marsters could have made it.

In the closing minutes of this period, which left Cornell somewhat bewildered, Marsters again came to the fore with a perfect forward pass to Wolff, who gathered the ball in on the Red 30-yard line and raced the remaining distance for a tally.

Cornell Tightens Up

The Dartmouth replacements were sent in at this point, as Cannell was evidently taking no chances with the Navy game next in line. McCall, Clark, Wilkin and McDonough made up the second backfield, and they were more than able to hold their own against Cornell. McDonough, who has seen much service at quarterback this year, despite the shifting of Marsters to that position, played an excellent game, and during the second half Marsters was shifted back to his old post, with McCall as a running mate.

Cornell tightened up in the second period and the game resolved itself into a punting duel, with the Ithacans having the edge. The Red ends, Champion and Hunt, were down fast under Johnson's kicks, and the period was a deadlock between the two teams.

In the second half a short forward pass, Marsters to O'Connor, went for 15 yards and again the Green started on a march. Sutton, Wolff and Marsters all alternated in carrying the ball, with McCall giving the last scoring punch in the form of a 40-yard run, when he was sent in in Wolff's place.

Dartmouth was far superior to Cornell today, and it marked the third successive triumph over the Ithacans. Dartmouth will face Navy two weeks from today in its final test of the season.
