October brought a cheerful letter from Dote, in which he mentioned incidentally that he was in the hospital for a couple of operations during July and August, and was now trebly eligible for membership in Will Rogers' Fraternity of Scarbellies. He assures me he is getting along well, but has to limit his activities—especially as to driving his car.
He was good enough to send me several '92 items. Bliss and Mrs. Bliss sailed in October to carry out their intention of spending the winter with their son, who is in the United States service at Singapore. Rogers was married during the summer to Mrs. Parker of Rutland, Vt. He is still at Hanover on the Gazette.
Two sons of '92 are in the freshman class at Dartmouth, E. K. Hall, Jr., and Preston Belknap. Pa Belknap, by the way, has added the Springfield (Vt.) Reporter to his string of Vermont newspapers.
B. Emerson announces the removal of his office to 290 Commonwealth Ave., Boston, which is also his home address.
No doubt some '92 men sat through the cold and rain at the Dartmouth-Harvard game. The Secretary didn't. The radio was too attractive that day. If any of you want to enroll as winning that endurance contest, send in your names.
P. S. Since sending in the above notes I have had a telephone conversation with Fud Hayes. He tells me that one of our classmates was visited by a young chap who said he was Fud's son and told a very plausible story which showed he was familiar with Fud's life and with Fud's '92 classmates. Of course it finally developed he wanted some money to help him out in an emergency. As it was not Fud's son and Fud knows nothing about the youth, he thought it might be well to pass on a warning to our class.
Incidentally I learned that Eud, B. Earl, Lamprey, and Thompson attended the Dartmouth-Harvard game, and decided it was worth while in spite of rain. Fud was at the Columbia game in Hanover, and had a good visit with Manson, who was also there.
