EARLY REGISTRATION
OCTOBER 1931

The first official figures on this year's registration released September 17 show an increase of enrollment of 77 students over the enrollment at a date five days later last year, with an increase in the size of each of the four classes. A record-breaking freshman class of 697 exceeds last year's class by 33. It is larger by 24 than the class entering in 1924, which is the largest class previously admitted to the College, numbering 673.

This year's enrollment exceeds Dartmouth's usual maximum limit of 2,200 by 61. The annual crop of late registrations due to unavoidable causes will add slightly to this number. It was noted in the statistics provided by Robert O. Conant, registrar of the College, yesterday, that the figures given included only candidates for the A.B. degree and did not included graduate students and second-year students in the Medical, Thayer and Tuck Schools.

The registration September 17 as compared with that at a slightly later time last year is as follows: September 22, 1980
