Good Green Backfield
NOVEMBER 1931

In the first place Dartmouth had one of the East's best backfields. This senior outfit of Will Morton, Wild Bill McCall, Aarne Frigard and Bob Wilkin showed class at every stage of the game, but it was more apparent that the greatest outfit in the world cannot go places without support. The Dartmouth ends were weak, and the Green missed Capt. Stan Yudicky terribly. Yudicky made his season's debut in this game, and was carried out on a warrior's shield after he had tried to stem the tide.

The line shows Whit Kimball as a good center, Bill Hoffman and Hank Barber as veterans who should know their positions, but it was necessary to shift Larry Durgin from end to tackle to fill Crehan's place and Jack Pyles was in Bromberg's position. But an assembly of ends were not up to scratch, and the best one of the lot on offense is our old friend Ward Donner, erstwhile halfback.

The sophomore material is still in the formative stage, but as usual we are all too prone to judge by early season games. Sammy Fishman looked like one of the greatest finds in years, but against major opposition Fishman has not impressed in the slightest. Wilbur Powers is another sophomore back who looked well in practise, but Powers has not been going places of late, and Dave Hedges has likewise been hors de combat in one major game.
