To go back to the Southern trip, Dartmouth opened impressively against Virginia by an 11-2 score, with Thompson and Boisseau doing the pitching. Despite the fact that the game was called in the sixth inning and the score was high, the hitting was light, only eight safe hits being made by the Green. The veteran infield of Hank Barber at first, Red Rolfe at short and Tom Eagan was in operation, and Eddie Picken and Howard Harvey were at their old out field posts, the only newcomers being Tom Maskilieson at second, a sophomore, and Aarne Frigard in left field, certainly not a newcomer to Dartmouth sports.

Then followed a two game series against Virginia Military Academy, Dartmouth dropping the first game 4-3 and the second 4-2, both again showing up the Green as a light hitting team. Boisseau started the first game and Edwards the second, thus giving all the sophomores a shot at the starting assignment.

Upon the return to Hanover, several changes were made. Thus far sophomores had found it hard to break into the varsity combination except in the box, but an injury to Tom Eagan at third caused such a consternation that the infield problem is still being shuffled from day to day and we don't know what to expect yet. Out of it all have emerged two youngsters who look good.
