Maskilieson is the first and he plays either third or second, and Loppy Rich, christened Charles Lothrop, is the other member. Rich is a small, quiet chap, who takes his baseball seriously, and on the Southern trip batted .333 as a third baseman. Now he is playing second some days and third other days.

Eddie Toothaker comes into the picture at this point, and after failing as a pitcher is working out on second base. Toothaker has had a very queer career at Dartmouth; as a football player his star was due to shine all season, yet never did, and as a baseball player he was on the ineligible list for two years. I remember that he used to work out with the nine last Spring, but now he is just another man looking for a berth.

The outfield presents a problem, for on any college team the sluggers are placed out in the gardens. Eddie Picken is a fixture, a smart baseball player who has outlived the reputation of being just a younger brother of Jim's; but Harvey is the fastest man on the team and yet not a hitter. Frigard bats them all over the lot in practise, but fails to hit in games. By the way, Jim Picken was in town today, and put on a Dartmouth uniform for a brief workout. Jeff had him umpire a full baseball game, and he got quite a kick out of "calling them" on his younger brother (There I go, referring to Eddie, but this is an exception). Jim will leave Troy Conference Academy this year and take up coaching duties in his home town of Audubon, N. J.

A surprising addition to the baseball team has been none other than Will Morton, who is already well known as a footballer. Morton, who played J. V. ball last year has shown quite a bit of stuff in the practise games, and shows further versatility by batting either way.
