APRIL 1932 F. N. Blodgett

Quote from the Boston Transcript.

"Appointment of John F. Reeder as advertising manager of the Cadillac Motor Car Company, succeeding Truman F. Campbell, is announced by General Sales Manager J. C. Chick. Mr. Reeder's appointment places the administration of Cadillac's large annual advertising budget in the hands of a man thoroughly qualified by previous experience for the post. His entire business career has been spent in the advertising field. Starting with the United States Advertising Corp. of Toledo, Mr. Reeder subsequently joined the staff of P. P. Willis, Inc., also of Toledo. His connection with the Campbell-Ewald Co. dates from 1927, and during his service with this organization he handled and directed the advertising programs of many of the General Motors accounts. Reeder is a graduate of Dartmouth College, where he won fame some years ago as a halfback on the football team."

"Coach Pat Kaney of the Dartmouth gymnasts announced recently the donation of an award to be known as the Charles W. Graydon Gym Team Cup, after the donor. The trophy was presented to the College for the purpose of awarding a prize to the most deserving senior under the following terms: That a committee of three, Dr. L. C. Mathewson, L. M. Sadler, and P. J. Kaney, shall annually select a senior of the Dartmouth gym team, one displaying best qualities of stickto-it-iveness, general improvement, value to team, points scored in meets, strength of opponents, respect for opposition, and fellowship. Graydon graduated from Dartmouth in 1925, was a member of Beta Theta Pi, Green Key, Casque and Gauntlet, made the basketball squad in his freshman year, and in 1925 was captain and manager of the gym team. He developed into an excellent tumbler, and with no previous experience made his varsity letter during his freshman year. In 1925-26 he was secretary-treasurer of the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Gymnasts of America, and a year later he reorganized the above into the Eastern Intercollegiate Gymnastic League, consisting of teams from Penn, M. I. T., Princeton, and Dartmouth. Today the league consists of seven teams: M. I. T, Navy, Princeton, Temple, Dartmouth, N. Y. XL, and Springfield. Resigning his position as secretarytreasurer in 1931, Graydon became a member of the league's advisory board. At present he also holds the position of secretary of the gymnastic committee on the American Olympic committee."

The above is quoted from a recent issue of The Dartmouth. It would seem that at last the class is getting some well-deserved publicity. Let's hope it continues—in its present favorable vein.

Dutch Hendrian and Stan Litchfield have joined forces in New York and recently sent out the following announcement:

Richard E. Hendrian Agency Home Life Insurance Co. of New York announces the affiliation of Mr. Stanton G. Litchfield as agent

with offices at Suite 300-301 52 Broadway, New York city, N. Y.

A letter from Ford Whelden brings news of Woody Wilson. Woody, apparently, is another member of the class who has added in the past two years not only avoirdupois but a wife to himself. Woody has been with the Majestic Radio Distributors for almost three years.

Rabbitt Wiley is well into his third year of married life, and has a young son, Robert Emerson Wiley. Bob is with the State Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Worcester, Mass., and is doing very well. He gets his exercise from squash and golf, but is still a terrific over-bidder at bridge. Strange to say, he wins most of the time. It is reported that there are some great bridge parties—across the river in Canada. A few bottles of ale, and Rabbitt will bid no-trump on a no-face, no-ace hand.

Mr. and Mrs. George E. Sprague have issued announcements of the arrival of one Sally Marcia Sprague on February 14, 1932.

Chuck Dodd was married on January 6 to Miss Frances Enloe Murray. The engagement was announced in this yere colyum some time ago.

And along the same vein: The latest romance in what seems to be a month of romances is formally expressed as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Morton Knode of 955 Green Bay Rd., Hubbard Woods (Chicago) announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth, to Horton Conrad, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Edgar Conrad of LaGrange, 111. Miss Knode graduated from Wellesley in 1931, and Mr. Conrad was graduated from Dartmouth, class of 1925. The wedding will take place next June.

Also from Chicago comes the news that Milt Hart has associated himself with Trustees System Service of that city.

Bob Sweetser dropped into the office the other day with the good news that he has moved from the Gangster City and expects to be permanently located in Boston. He is associated with Corporate Leaders of America, Inc., at 141 Milk St., Boston, and is successfully endeavoring to educate the beaneaters hereabouts to this superior investment trust. Last week Bob took us home to dinner, where we met the attractive Mrs. Bob and the two youngsters. Perhaps it is due to his Chicago training, but at any rate Mr. Sweetser's beer is by far the best brew in town, and needless to say we spent a most enjoyable evening.
