On March 2 the Dartmouth Club of Northern New Jersey met at the Essex County Country Club in West Orange for the first annual dinner. This organization is the outgrowth of the Dartmouth Club of the Oranges and Maplewood, founded in 1921. Some 160 men attended. On entering everyone was given a chef's hat with a "D" stamped on it. "Bones" Joy '16 started work on a piano, and Joe Myer '18 led a few songs. Karl W. Koeniger '17, president of the former Dartmouth Club of the Oranges and Maplewood, acted as toastmaster. He first outlined the plan and origin of this new club, then by popular acclaim called on Walt Hetfield '29, president of the Dartmouth Club of the Plainfields. The toastmaster introduced Dick Plumer '12, who emphasized the necessity for definite organization and appointed a nominating committee to draw up a slate of officers. While this group retired he introduced Basil O'Connor '12, who enjoys a splendid reputation in his native New York. After overcoming a number of remarks from the bleachers "Doc" gave an excellent talk, even harking back to the days when he lived in East Orange.

At the conclusion of his remarks, the nominating committee reported as follows: President: Karl W. Koeniger '17. Vice-President: Richard C. Plumer '12. Treasurer: Swift C. Barnes '18. Secretary: James G. Hodge Jr. '29. Board of Trustees 1938-1934-: To serve two years: Clarke W. Tobin '10, Harold P. Jackson '10, Thomas W. Streeter '04; to serve one year: Nathan C. Lenfesty 'IS, Malcolm Stearns 'OB, James R. Erwin '12.

After a slight shifting of chairs the latest news reels were run off to the great enjoyment of the whole crowd, a piano furnishing the atmosphere of the Nugget.
