What with the bank holiday and no one able to spend two cents for a postage stamp to write to us, we were about to declare a holiday on '27 news in this publication. However, Chuck Field saved the day with a letter which arrived just in time to get under the wire.
Chuck is living in Oak Park, Ill., and is still working in Chicago, where he is manager of the statistical department of the Grigsby-Grunow, manufacturers of Majestic Radios, Tubes and Refrigerators. In March of last year he was married to Miss Josephine Norine Pfeiffer of Kenton, Ohio. Last fall Chuck was in Des Moines and called one evening on Windy Howland and his wife. Windy is selling life insurance for the Sun Life of Canada.
Fred Thompson is still busy raising a herd of cattle on his ranch, which is known as Ranch Mackinaw, located near Wagon Mound, New Mexico.
We bumped into Ed Marston the other day in the University Club. Ed is working for a laundry company in Greater Boston.
We were informed only this evening W. Gordon (Smittie) Smith has recently announced his engagement, but as yet we do not know the young lady's name. Just to show you what a retiring sort of a guy our cartoonist is, we happened to see him this afternoon and he never even mentioned the above affair. Smittie is still working on the editorial staff of the Boston Sunday Post.
Nels O'Rourke was recently heard from down in Daytona, Fla., where he has been on a short vacation. He expects to return soon to Derby Line, his home.
Don Burnham is teaching in the Weaver High School in Hartford, Conn.
Bob Funkhouser was in Boston for a short time a few weeks ago. He didn't actually say that it was a business trip, which leads us to suspect that it might have been to see a young lady. At any rate Bob is still working for Frigidaire, and is looking better than ever.
The regular monthly dinner in Boston was held as usual on the third Wednesday at the University Club. Although there were not quite as many present as usual, a good time was apparently had by all. Those attending were: Johnny Blanchard, Rog Bury, Joe Ryan, Phil Fowler, Bob Voorhis, Gus Cummings, Bob Page, Bob Dalrymple, Bill St. Amant, and your Secretary.
Our class agent, Gus Cummings, has already given much thought and effort to the Alumni Fund drive, which starts before long. He did a splendid piece of work last year, and we are certain that with a little encouragement and co-operation from all of us he will this year put our class up near the top, where it belongs.
Secretary, 152 Waban Ave., Waban, Mass.
