On January 14 the Club held its annual meeting and elected for the ensuing year the following officers: Dr. Robert M. Stecher '19, president; Myron H. Watkins '24, first vice-president; Julius E. Warren '10, second vice-president; Nelson O. Newcomb Jr. '24, secretary; Francis R. Drury '26, treasurer; executive committee, Ellwood H. Fisher '21, Paul Gordon '24, E. L. McFalls '16, and E. J. Petrequin '25.
The annual banquet of the Club was held on Saturday, February 15, at the Cleveland Athletic Club. Sixty members of the Club were present, which included a few members from Akron, and A. E. Goss from Warren, Ohio. Harold B. Doty '18 presided. After calling upon Dr. Stecher for a brief verbal foray, and Henry McK. Haserot '10, who delivered a poetic interlude of a personal nature which was roisterously received, Mr. Doty called upon Dean Laycock.
The Dean gave us an up-to-the-minute account of the financial, academic, and social activities of the College, with several colorful anecdotes of undergraduate perplexities interspersed. At the conclusion of his talk he called for questions, and a lively discussion ensued. Following this, Dr. Stecher presented the Dean with a monogramed cigarette box as a small token of the appreciation the Cleveland Club feels for his many years of useful service to the College.
Despite difficulties of the business world, the Club is still as active as ever. Weekly lunches are held every Saturday, at which there is always a good crowd, spirited repartee, and a few bridge games. The location of these gatherings has been changed from the Hotel Statler, where the Club has held forth for years indefinite, to the Cleveland Athletic Club, directly across the street. This move was made as an economy measure to promote an even larger attendance. Dartmouth men traveling through Cleveland are urged to avail themselves of the welcome we will gladly extend to them.
Secretary,
