The following is taken from a sketch in the Boston Post of September 18:

"Dr. George H. Littlefield. of 361 Neponset Ave., Dorchester, was 86 years old yesterday, and the same day celebrated his goldenwedding. He believes he is the oldest practicing doctor in Greater Boston, but he stilldrives his own automobile all over Dorchester, goes out on confinement cases, takes care of the regular run of a busyfamily doctor's routine, and never hesitatesto get out of bed at any hour to answer asick call. After graduating from Dartmouthhe settled in Nebraska, and began to practice in 1878.

"Among other things that he specializedin out West was a study of the cure of rattlesnake bites. By careful observation thedoctor found out that alcohol in a humanbody will neutralize the poison of a rattlesnake. Accordingly, when he was called totake care of persons that had been bitten,he gave them enough whiskey to makethem violently drunk. One man took a pintand a half of straight whiskey and nevergot drunk. The poison from the bite andthe alcohol counteracted. The patient gotrapidly better. He treated hundreds offolks for rattlesnake bites, and never lost acase.

"For a hobby, Dr. Littlefield dabbles inastronomy. He has several telescopes andother astronomical equipment with whichhe studies the skies. He also maintains aherd of 40 blooded cows at the home of hisparents in East Bridgewater. He is descended from the Littlefield family whowere illustrious in the pioneer history ofMassachusetts."
