Dartmouth's varsity hockey squad reported to Herb Gill on November 12. The Green coach, who presented Dartmouth with the championship of the Quadrangular League in his first season at Hanover, has a real problem to face this season with only four experienced players returning to the team. The graduation of Morton, Powers, McHugh, Arthur, Crowther, Bennett and Nissen has left a huge gap to be filled, and the failure of Frankie Spain, all-League center, to return to College this year is another severe loss.

Paul Guibord, star wing of last year's sextet, is the outstanding man on the Green ice team this year, and has been elected captain to replace Spain. Guibord, who is also tennis champion of the College, is the one spark plug about whom a successful team might be built. George Riley and Bob MacPherson are a pair of likely candidates for the forward line, Al Butler Fitzpatrick are two stalwart defense men, and Bill Cash and "Red" Pounder, both sophomores, seem to be the most capable goalies. Gordon Bennett and Don Otis, the sophomore tackles on the Big Green eleven, are also expected to report as defense men after the football season closes. This material is far below the caliber of last year's, but by means of some magic, Coach Gill may transform it into another high-powered team. The sophomore candidates are an unknown factor, and the outcome of the season will really hinge on their development.
