The basketball team also came out of its examination siesta with a rush, trouncing New Hampshire 42 to 22, but the ensuing contests against league opponents found the Green's championship hopes wiped out by three straight losses.

A capacity audience estimated at 2,700 was on hand for the Yale encounter Saturday night of Carnival week-end, and until the closing minutes of the game there was excitement galore. Yale disclosed an uncanny ability to shoot baskets with a rapid, flippish motion, and these shots gave the Blue a 40-31 victory. Dartmouth sank only nine baskets to Yale's sixteen, and produced the rest of its total on thirteen foul tosses.

The first half was a see-saw affair, and Yale had a scant lead, 18 to 16, at the intermission. The Blue increased their advantage to 22-17 early in the second half, but baskets by Bonniwell, Kraszewski and Miller enabled the Green to forge ahead. This spurt was Dartmouth's last real bid, and with Miles setting the pace, the Bulldogs recaptured the lead and steadily increased it until the final gun. Miles took scoring honors with 17 points, while Al Bonniwell, Green forward, sank 14 and went to the top of the league-scoring list.
