The Dartmouth and Smith College teams met in Hanover on November 16 to battle over the question, "Resolved: That Woman's Place is in the Home." Interest was added to the contest by Dartmouth's taking the negative side, and a capacity crowd was in Dartmouth Hall to hear the Green debaters open their season. No decision was rendered, but impartial observers claim that Smith received the greater applause.
The Dartmouth team is being coached this year by John V. Neale, a new member of the Department of Public Speaking, and new interest has been shown in the work of the Forensic Union. Dartmouth was represented in its opening debate by Charles H. Brown '35, of Donora, Pa., and Robert E. Button '36, of Maplewood, N. J.
