The annual dinner of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Boston was held in the main dining room of the Chamber of Commerce Building on Saturday, January 20. Festivities started with the opening of the improvised tavern at 2:30 in the afternoon.
At 7:00 o'clock some 750 members of the Association gathered at the main dining room for dinner. The number present was greatly in excess of the usual attendance, due to the fact that the dinner was primarily in honor of Dean Laycock.
Dr. Halsey B. Loder 1905 opened the meeting by receiving the nomination and conducting the election of the following as officers for the coming year: president, Edward S. French 1906; executive vicepresident, John R. Burleigh 1914; vice-presidents, Richard Parkhurst 1916, Doane Arnold 1927; secretary, F. William Andres 1929; treasurer, Lawrence H. Martin 1928; director of publicity, Robert N. Williamson 1927; executive committee, Clarence S. Luitwieler 1924, Llewellyn P. White 1925, Joseph M. Batchelder 1926, Donald W. Gardner 1927, John V. Phelan 1928, Benjamin B. Leavitt 1929, Josiah Chandler 1930, Parker F. Soule 1931, Frank N. Carleton 1932, James F. Woods 1933.
Thereafter Dr. Loder introduced Judge Nelson P. Brown 1899, toastmaster, who in turn introduced to the members of the Association the three new football coaches, who received no small reception.
Judge Brown then introduced the speakers of the evening, Basil O'Connor, President Hopkins, and Dean Laycock.
Immediately at the conclusion of Dean Laycock's speech he was presented with a silver punch bowl and goblets, being a token of the appreciation and esteem of the Boston Alumni.
