BASEBALL SEASON under Coach Tom Keady and Captain "Dutch" Schildmiller opened with a 4-0 victory over Andover at Andover, followed by a 6-1 loss and 12-0 victory in two home games with Bowdoin .... the two wins being credited to Johnny Mitchell and the loss to Louis Ekstrom, freshman southpaw . . . . outfielders were Emerson, Langdell, Gammons, Coggins, Schildmiller, Daley; infielders, Brady, Norton, Orr, Eaton, Conroy, Ryan; catchers, Chadbourne, Ganley .... track squad spent a week of Easter vacation practicing on the Tech Field in Brookline, with the following men reporting; sprints, Hawley, Marks, Sherman, Smith, Butler; hurdles, Hotaling, Seaver, Dallas; 440, Hall, Palmer, Duffie, Miller, Wheeler, Morris; 880, Baxter, Francis, Jones, Preble, Sanderson; mile, Barstow, Noyes, Bull; two mile, Capt. Walker, Clark; field events, Palmer, Whitney, Holdman, Lewis, Johnson, Thompson, Morrill .... Musical Clubs gave concerts in Ridegwood, N. J., Brooklyn, N. Y., Philadelphia, Albany, Boston .... Connecticut River at highest spring level since 1849 with railroad service on the Passumpsic division north of Hanover discontinued.

Hopkins made his second trip among westernAlumni associations, going to Pittsburg,Cleveland, Oak Park and Cincinnati; he took with him 125 new stereoptican views of the college grounds and buildings besides a number of the old pictures . . . .

special plans were made to have seniors of various high and preparatory schools attend the lectures .... Tom Uniac, Tom Keady and Chet Coffin signed to play in the New England League; Ralph Glaze with Indianapolis.

Transportation service between Hanover and the Norwich railroad station improved when Liveryman Waterman started running a new rubber-tired hack and four two-seated rigs to and from each train in competition with Liveryman H. Howe whose paraphernalia remained as uncomfortable as ever .... competition never bothered Hamp ... . H. W. Porter bought the property at Columbia Green, Columbia, Conn, said to have been the residence of Eleazar Wheelock, D.D., for thirty-five years pastor of the Columbia Congregational Church and founder of the Indian missionary school in Columbia which finally led to the founding of Dartmouth College .... Dartmouth editorial protests against expenses of graduation becoming a "heavier and heavier burden upon Dartmouth men until soon Commencement must be regarded as a luxury denied to the poorer student."
