"One who has been secretary of his classfor 25 years needs no introduction to thegroup of devoted sons of Dartmouth College gathered here. You may throw outyour chest a bit when we recall, with justpride, that you have twice been presidentof this Association and that you have represented us for six years on the AlumniCouncil. You mherited Dartmouth fromyour father, a graduate of the Collegenearly 100 years ago. You and your twobrothers spent four undergraduate yearsin Hanover. You passed Dartmouth on toyour four sons, every one a Dartmouthman. The blood of the Parkinsons is notred, it is green! Largely through your efforts the class of 1878 has become a modelof alumni groups. Your biennial class reports will always stand to your great credit. The large and exhaustive class history published by you recently is a labor of lovethat must not go unrewarded. The Association is delighted to add your name to itsvery select list of best class secretaries andto wish you 'good luck' for many moreyears of service."
