KIERNAN PUNTS 78 YARDS
November 1935 C. E. W. '30

By intercepting one of Hollingworth's passes the Vermonters penetrated deep into Green territory, but Joe Kiernan made a beautiful punt that carried from his own goal-line to the Catamounts' 28-yard line, and the visitors were again on the defensive. After Vermont punted, a forward-lateral, Hollingworth to Camp to McCray, covered 15 yards; another pass, Hollingworth to Kenny, added 5 more; and after three ground plays failed to gain sufficiently, Hollingworth shot another pass to Camp, who romped the remaining 20 yards to score. Vermont received and elected to pass, but Kenny intercepted the ball, ran 35 yards for a touchdown, and brought Dartmouth's rocketing total to 33 points. The second team went into action at this point in the second period, and after a punting duel which lost ground for the visitors, Casey shot off tackle for 20 yards to bring the score to 40-0 at the half.

Play in the second half was ragged, and scoring opportunities twice gained through Hollingworth-to-Merrill passes were muffed. The third team was inserted by Coach Blaik, and Warren King tossed the ball to Archibald in the end zone for the seventh and final tally of the day. Although Vermont's defenses were so pregnable, Dartmouth's play in the first half was brilliant in itself, and the Green forward-passing attack was the first real aerial exhibition seen under the new coaching regime.
