The Harvard contest at Cambridge on the preceding Saturday scarcely gave indication that this was the year. The Indians dearly displayed their superiority over the Crimson but were unable to convert their superiority into points, boggling two scorling opportunities and finally coming out on the long end of a 14-6 score. In all fairness, however, the Big Green eleven got away to an early lead, by virtue of a touchdown midway through the first period, and chose to play conservative football for the rest of the afternoon.

Except for one lapse in the second quarter, when Hedblom raced 35 yards to score, Dartmouth played a near-perfect defensive game. Offensively, the Big Green pounded out 17 first downs to Harvard's one, and covered 289 yards on the ground. The game was noteworthy in that the Dartmouth coaches finally hit upon their most effective backfield combination in Captain Jack Kenny, Eddie Chamberlain, Frank Nairne, and John Handrahan, who entered the game for the injured Kiernan and immediately blasted the contest wide open.

The game opened with a flurry of punts which worked to Dartmouth's advantage, and the Indians gained possession of the ball at midfield. Two off-side penalties against the Crimson and two running plays carried to the 33-yard line, and Kiernan punted over the goal line. Harvard kicked from the 20, and Dartmouth began the 54- yard march that led to the first score. Another off-side penalty against Harvard and three running plays produced first down on the 42, a Chamberlain-to-Kenny pass moved the ball up to the 23, and a Chamberlain-to-Camp pass, pulled out of the air spectacularly by the lanky end, advanced the ball to the Crimson 6-yard line. Two plays carried to the 2-yard mark, and Kiernan plunged over for the touchdown. Joe Handrahan kicked the extra point, and the Indians were ahead for the rest of the game. What seemed to be another touchdown march, featured by Nairne's running and a Chamberlain-to-Camp pass, was nullified by a 15-yard holding penalty, and the period ended without further excitement.

Successive holding and off-side penalties against the Green placed Harvard on Dartmouth's 43-yard line soon after the second quarter opened. Struck produced a first down on the 35, and Hedblom then pulled the greatest surprise of the day when he burst through tackle on a fake reverse and scored without a defensive hand being placed upon him. Bilodeau's kick failed, and the dramatic part of the game was over. The remainder of the period was featured by intercepted passes, and play was confined to the middle of the field.

The Big Green eleven got rolling in the third period. Superior punting worked the ball into Crimson territory, and Hollingworth kicked outside on the 15. John Handrahan returned a punt 17 yards to the 43, and from that point he, Hollingworth and Nairne advanced the ball across the goal line in nine tries, Hollingworth scoring. Joe Handrahan again converted, and the final score was set.

In the Process of Scalping Harvard Fred Hollingworth (28), preceded by Joe Handrahan (73), is shown on his way through the Crimson's left tackle for Dartmouth's second touchdown.
