The Big Green touchdown machine continued to roll up points at the expense ofthe stumbling Bruins on October 19, winning by the one-way score of 41 to 0, asBrown and Dartmouth renewed their ancient gridiron rivalry at Providence. TheIndians produced touchdowns in every period but the last, when the third team wasoperating under orders from Coach Blaikto play a purely defensive game and kickon first down.

Dartmouth got off to a wobbly start inthe face of Brown's spirited defensive play, but the Big Green attack soon began to roll, and when Don Emery, captain and centerof the Bruins, left the game, the hometeam's defenses crumbled completely.Frank Nairne, at right halfback, hit hisstride for Dartmouth, scoring two touch-downs on pretty runs and taking a handin the most thrilling play of the afternoonwhen he ran 26 yards and then flippeda lateral to Dave Camerer who continuedthe remaining 55 yards to score. WarrenKing, midget halfback, also contributed athrill to the Dartmouth rooters when heran back a punt 61 yards for the final tallyof the game.

A 35-yard advance, ending with Kiernansmashing across, scored the only touch-down of the first period. A Chamberlain-to-Merrill pass produced the second score, and Nairne's 29-yard touchdown run madethe score 20-0 at the half. Naime, Camererand King produced the second-half touchd-owns.

Handrahan form a double-barreled running and passing team.

Backing up the regulars are John Merrill and Larry Hull, ends; Don Otis and John Williams, tackles; Henry Billings and Francis Schildgen, guards; Frank Lynch, center; Bob Foley, quarterback; Fred Hollingworth and Phi Conti, halfbacks; and Herb Christiansen, fullback. An injury to Frank Nairne has thrown the backfield ratings out of kilter, but with the veteran back in shape it is likely that he will rate Number 2 at the right halfback post, followed by Conti and Eddie Casey. Warren King, 142-pound lightweight, was a sensation at left halfback in the Bates game, and as a 10-second man he is going to be extremely valuable in brief spells. He, Hollingworth, Christiansen, Hull and Davis have stood out thus far among the sophomore newcomers to the varsity.

Dartmouth football followers made the acquaintance of these gridiron personages under highly unfavorable conditions when rain for the second successive year washed away all the glamor of the opening Nor-wich game and forced a postponement of the traditional Delta Alpha doings. Alternate drizzles and downpours continued throughout the contest, but a crowd of 5,000 braved the elements to see the Big Green duplicate its 39-0 score of the previous year. The Indian regulars played during only one 12-minute quarter, pushed across two touchdowns, and then retired in favor of the second, third and fourth teams, who finished out the contest. Joe Kiernan crashed through from the 5-yard line after an opening 55-yard march, and Phil Conti culminated another advance with a 32-yard touchdown gallop. The Dartmouth regulars used only straight running plays, started from a single wingback formation, with unbalanced line and no shift, and occasionally tossed a pass to let the scouts know that something had happened to the Big Green aerial attack since last fall.
