These are facts which primarily concern the first team. When the regulars leave the field, the coaching staff's headaches begin. Replacements are particularly lacking for the middle of the line, and an injury to John Williams, second-string tackle, in the Bates game created a temporary crisis for Harry Ellinger. If Gordon Bennett and Dave Camerer, backed up by Don Otis and Williams, can pull an iron-man stunt at the tackle posts this year, the situation will be greatly alleviated. On the other hand, iron-man stunts are greatly against Coach Blaik's gridiron principles. The guards also lack ample support, while the difference between Mutt Ray and his substitutes at center is tremendous.
