The class letter in September brought a number of responses, and I am glad to pass on the news contained therein.

Dote is always a faithful correspondent and picks up a lot of news. He reports that on a trip to Cleveland the latter part of September he had an opportunity to spend an enjbyable evening with Sam and Mrs. Baldwin at their farm in Gales Mills, about fifteen miles east of Cleveland. Sam had just finished a very busy season with his bird friends. More House Wren scandals will probably follow.

To him I am also indebted for the news that Don and Mrs. Bliss were to leave for Biloxi, Miss., on November first, and that Jim Sargent has bought a house at 35 Liberty St., Montpelier. Jim's daughter, Rosamond, is a valued member of Dote's staff, and another daughter, Alice, teaches in Barre city. Dote writes that he is well, but that Mrs. Doty's health is very poor.

Davidson, in sending in a subscription to the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, wrote: "Trust I mayget better posted, as now I might as well bein Berlin with Hitler as far as knowingabout Dartmouth doings." He has certainly found the proper cure.

Jim Barton reports on his family. His daughter is a senior at Middlebury College, and his son entered M. I. T. this fall. He also says: "Personally, I am continuingthe practice of law and expect to do sountil once more the rights of the Americancitizen are fairly well established to do theordinary things of life without interferencefrom Washington." He's evidently planning to be at our Fiftieth.

Cox sends a cheerful word and a map of an improved road that I'll be glad to pass on to any of you who are going to California this winter.

Gil Brown sent in one of his cheery letters, assuring us all was going well in the Brown family.

I have just learned that Mrs. Shirley has resigned her position in the Franklin Library, much to the regret of the people of that town, and has moved to Durham, N. H.

LETTERS WANTED!

If some of the rest of you are inspired by the good conduct of those who have written me this last month, we will have another interesting bunch of news for the January issue.
