IN A BASEBALL game, the last Wednesday in September, the freshmen defeated the sophomores by a score of 21 to 20. (J. F. Paul '78 was umpire. Thayer played at second base for sophomores. Rundlett pitched for freshmen) Best one and three mile running and walking records made here since introduction of athletic sports are: one mile run, C. D. Lamb '79, 5 min. 4 1/2 sec. One mile walk, Lewis Parkhurst '78, 7 min.4914 sec. Three mile run, E. C. Stimson '76, 16 min. 39 1\4 sec. Three mile walk, Lewis Parkhurst '78, 25 min. 16 1\4 sec... Instead of an examination in English Lit., each member takes twenty authors and writes a sketch of the life and works of each. Sad. .. . Why such a dearth of Profs, in Chapel the morning following the Medical Commencement? Have they forgotten the welllearned custom of college days when they could wash, dress, eat and get to Chapel all in the space of five minutes or less, after a night of reve(l)ry? .... Miss Kate Sanborn, by special request, will deliver her lecture entitled "An Hour with Lady Morgan," in the hall of the Chandler Building, Tuesday evening, Nov. 20. The proceeds are to be given toward purchasing a carpet for the church The village school, under the instruction of Lewis Parkhurst '78, is having a very prosperous term.
