For the benefit of those who did not read the announcement in the Boston papers, it is very pleasant to be able to announce at this time the appointment of Ralph W. Brown as special assistant to the counsel general of the United States Treasury Department in Washington. Our con- gratulations to Brownie. This should mean the end of the depression for the members of the class of 1915, with Ralph in the Treasury Department at Washington and Kell Rose in the Chase National in New York. Perhaps we should make this suggestion; that if the loan is in billions, see Brown, otherwise, try Rose first.
Mention of Kell Rose reminds us of the 20th reunion. Kell is already busily engaged in dividing up the work of organizing for the reunion among the various members of his committee. You will probably hear much more abou this next month. Have you already mailed to the Secretary the information requested recently? This has special value for the reunion committee as well as for the class records.
It is reported that A1 and Marguerite Priddy have sailed for Porto Rico, presumably on a business trip. Perhaps A1 is looking after the interests of one Jose Michael Curley in that faraway island.
Former Senator Russ Chase now has a Boston office at 44 School St., where he is treasurer of Beacon Metals, Inc. From all reports this new position is a very good one, and Russ doubtless will regard the recent political landslide as a blessing in disguise, the same as many other Republicans have come to view it.
It is hoped that you will take particular notice of the cut appearing at the head of this column. It should remind us all of the good old days in Hanover when "A. E. S." was so familiar to all of us on Jack o'Lantern drawings. Many thanks to Art Sterling for this most recent contribution to the class.
I here will be more news in this column next month if you will fill out the requested information and return to the Secretary promptly.
Friday of each week has been designated as 1915 luncheon day at the Dartmouth Lunch Room in the Parker House at Boston. The class of 1914 will also lunch on the same day. All Dartmouth men who happen in town on Friday are urged to attend their class luncheon.
Now that Walt Wanger has his picture 111 various national newspapers as the at tendant of Marlene Dietrich at polo games, it is apparent that the slogan of "Watch Walter Wanger" is being taken seriously not only by rival producers but also by leading actresses.
The 20th Reunion committee has progressed in its planning to the point of discussing the individual tax on members attending the reunion. It is hoped that at least ninety members of the class will signify their intention of attending, and that at least half of them will bring their wives. A proposal of not over $l5 individual tax on the class member plus a $5 tax for the wife and $5 for each child attending would seem adequate to finance a very successful reunion. Possibly the total for a member with wife can be reduced slightly. It is now up to the members of the class to help the committee in compiling as much in advance of the reunion as possible a reliable list of those who will attend.
