By the time this column is actually delivered to your doorstep, winter will be almost over in New England. And what an amazing winter it has been! As I write this column at the beginning of February, we have had almost no snow to date. It has been a disaster for the ski resorts but a blessing for those of us who have to fight traffic on icy Boston streets. At any rate, the people of this city are too caught up with the Celtics to worry about the weather one way or the other.
However, I did see some of the white stuff on my one trip to Canada in the last year. On December 8, 1979, this writer witnessed the marriage of Bruce Ling to Joanne Banks in Toronto, Canada, in a beautiful ceremony. Paul will be based in the firm's San Francisco office. MDS is a national leader in the use of problem solving models and computer software for business analysis and planning.
Yet another M.8.A., Mike Onerick, graduated from Harvard Business School this past spring, where he reportedly took up rugby "at an advanced age." He and his wife Karen spent last summer in the San Francisco area, where he was in a training program with the Raychem Corporation. Mike reported that he had several enjoyable outings with Sam Livermore and his wife Cindy, as well as with Tom O'Neill and Ben Delaney.
Dale Pope wrote from his hometown of Edgertown, Wise., to report that he has graduated from law school and is now a partner with the firm of Roethe, Buhrow, Roethe and Pope in Edgerton.
A future member of the bar is Bruce Alexander, Bruce is in his second year at University of Virginia Law School and is hoping to go into admiralty and ocean-related law. He and his wife Susan (Holyoke '73) just had their first baby, Bennett Ewell Alexander. "Looking for Dartmouth '01," reported Bruce.
It looks like Maurice Roberts has had the same good fortune, as his message was short and sweet - "IT WAS A BOY!"

His new address: 9170 Eves Circle, Roswell, Ga. 30076. Bob and his wife Tricia have two children - Gordon and their newest arrival (January 23), Alan.
Valerie Armento was recently appointed deputy city attorney for the city of Fremont, Calif. Val reported that Fremont is " . . . one of the few, if not the only, city bordering San Francisco Bay that has sheep grazing within a few miles of downtown . . . Hopefully this won't all be lost in the urbanization crush."
Kent Trachte has been appointed an assistant professor for government and international relations at Clark University in Worcester, Mass.
Steve Quigley is currently a member of the executive committee of the Dartmouth Alumni Council. He has been considerate enough to send me a summary of the items discussed during his meetings with the Alumni Council and this has been an excellent source of information for me. Many thanks.
Finally, Wayne Davis sent word that he has received his M.B.A. from Tuck School and is now working for the insurance brokerage firm of Johnson and Higgins in Hartford, Conn. His wife Ann is working at Aetna as a bond analyst. Regardless of their distance from Hanover, I know that Wayne and Ann are still loyal Big Green fans, as I saw them in Cambridge for the Dartmouth-Harvard hockey game.
That's it for this month. See you next.
