Sim is now Doctor Cantril on the staff of the Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago, living at 5063 Blackstone. He took his premedical course at the medical school on the hillside that slopes up from the eastern edge of the Hanover plain and completed the work for his degree at Harvard. And now he has attained the unique distinction and signal honor of being the first American to be accepted by the Curie Institute on an appointment to study cancer at the Institute in Paris.

On Friday, March 15, Ned Hartstone, whose engagement to Virginia-Lee Davis was recently announced and reported in these columns, was married, and set up housekeeping at 515 Park Drive, Boston.

Not long ago in Boston at the City Club Gus Herbert treated the local boys to a class supper and movie show. He had on hand some more of that very easy to drink free beer which was one of the most pleasant features of last June's reunion, and reel upon reel of intimate movies featuring bald-headed fifth-year reuners and the latest stars among undergraduate skiers. The attendance, though numerically disappointing, was of the following high quality: Paul Nourie, Dick Rogers, Phil Rising, Squeek Redding, Brooks White, Archie Crowley, Herm Liss, Hank Stein, Maurie Rolfe, John Conlon (all the way from Portland, Me.), Bill Coles, Dick Johnson, Herb McCreery, Gus himself, and the recorder of the pleasant event.

Here's a letter from the Pacific Coast representative of the Plymouth Cordage Company, one B. B. Bradley:

April 23, 1935.

"Dear Bill:

"First, I want to thank you very much foryour prompt action in response to mywire requesting the 1929 class movies. These arrived in perfect condition on Friday morning, April 12, in ample time toshow them as the feature on the entertainment program of the annual dinner of theDartmouth Association of Northern California, as planned. Had a little privateshowing out at my apartment for BlythAdams and Dan Marx, and tried to getPolly Parrott and the other '29 men intown but was unable to do so. However, several members of other classes seizedthis opportunity of seeing the picturesagain, so all in all I think we have madevery good use of them, and thanks again.

"The rumor is correct, I actually gotmarried on December 13, 1934, in Glendale, Calif., to Miss Ora Mae Mosley, a galhailing from the big Northwest, then viaUniversity of Oregon to San Francisco, where I met her.

"Cy Worth, class of '29, not only was bestman at the wedding but also went with uson our honeymoon to Hawaii along withthe next best man, a mutual friend of Cy'sand mine but non-Dartmouth. In brief, arather unique wedding trip, but a swellone from start to finish.

"We are now living in San Francisco, and the best man, Cy Worth, is roaming thecountry for the Plymouth Cordage Co.wherever there are oil fields, and the latestreport is that he has gotten himself downinto Monterey, Mexico, but next week hewill probably be in Montana somewhere.

"Blyth Adams is working in a local bankhere, as he has been for some time. DanMarx is with the McCormick SteamshipCompany here, and Polly Parrott is nowliving and working here, and just the otherday was the father of a brand-new child.

"I am located here most of the time, withmy office and headquarters here, but ampretty much on the go up and down thecoast, and in fact am leaving tonight forSeattle

"BRAD."

And another California settler has had thoughts of home and Hanover, and, marvelous to relate, has written as follows: "414 Sec. Title Ins. Bldg., 550 W. Sixth St.,Los Angeles, Calif.,May 3, 1935.

"Dear Bill:"No doubt by this time you have placedme in the category of the 'forgotten man'—and I am in a way, being an attorney whopractices law in a place other than Washington, D. C.—but we will let that pass forthe time being at least.

"I attended the annual Dartmouth banquet just a week ago held at the MayflowerHotel, and was disappointed in not findingany other '29ers present. 'Al' Floyd and'Ted' Baehr used to put in an occasionalappearance, but they have evidently recently succumbed to the pursuit of theirrespective occupations of banker and actor.

"After the Sinclair Epic campaign andthe Townsend pension plan you probablywonder what the next simple solution isgoing to be for all the world's problems!eminating from this fair region. I plead notguilty so far as the origination of any otherscheme is concerned, but I would adviseany of you Twenty-niners who contemplatethe flotation of new ideas or of old onesdressed up, to begin right here.

"As most of you who are barristersalready know, the annual meeting of theAmerican Bar Association is to be heldhere during the week of July 15, 1935- Iwould like to issue a cordial invitation toall those who feel prosperous enough toattend. I will be very glad to see that theyare properly entertained through the facilities of the local Junior Barristers Association. Although I do not believe I qualify asa native son, I will say that I do not believewe are going to have any unusual weather, such as occurred around March 11, 1933.However, as a semi-native son I will saythat the desert wild flowers during Marchand April this year up around Bakersfieldwere the finest they have had in manyyears, due no doubt to the heavy rains andsnows in the mountains. I spent aboutthree weeks about that time helping try amining case involving a group of mines adjacent to the Silver Queen mine recentlysold to a British South African syndicate. Most of the parties and witnesses in thecase answered perfectly to the characterizations in a Western story thriller with aplot laid twenty or thirty years ago.

"I can't promise anything as unusual asthese things and I would hardly dare predict an 'earth jar' (native sons, please takenotice of the phraseology) or a flood, butI will predict that no dust-storm overtakesyou here, and that it will be cool enoughso that you can sleep—not implying in anyway that you might desire to do so.

"I would greatly appreciate having all ofthose who might be interested in comingcommunicate with me as soon as possible,at the above address c/o the firm of McGeeand Robnett.

In saying "So long for the summer months" we want to add our thanks for the trip to Hanover, which we will be taking a week-end hence for the secretaries' meetings.

Secretary, 89 Pleasant St., Newton Center, Mass. We have two headliners this month: Sim Cantril and Archie Crowley.
