The first Dartmouth crew to engage in intercollegiate competition since 1887 will take to the water on May 30, when the Green eight rows Manhattan on the Harlem River. Coach Jim Smith, of the Boston Rowing Club, has been working this spring with a squad of 25 men and has tentatively selected the following for the history-making race with Manhattan: Coxswain, T. D. Duff '37, Jersey City, N. J.; R. W. Dow '38, Woodsville, N. H.; C. M. Hecker '38, Manchester, N. H.; L. H. Van Dike '38, Trenton, N. J.; R. D. Mussey '38, Rochester, Minn.; G. R. Tanis '38, Haledon, N. J.; M. R. Butler '37, Waukesha, Wis.; O. Butterworth '37, West Hartford, Conn.; and E. J. Stephens '36, Longmeadow, Mass.

The Dartmouth Rowing Club is being led this year by "Bud" Butterworth, who has had considerable previous experience at Kent School. Its members have been working out daily at Lake Mascoma under the direction of Coach Smith arid Roger Bates of the Yale 150's. The Enfield Outing Club has built a new boathouse on the lake, with arrangements for extensions when more shells arrive. The Rowing Club is now using an older shell, presented last year by Exeter Academy, and a newer shell purchased from Harvard in 1929. In addition to these two eight-scull shells, the Club also has a patched-up shell for four and the coach's single-scull boat.

Alumni will have an opportunity to see the Dartmouth crew in action on Saturday, June 15. A rowing meet is being arranged at that time for the benefit of Commencement guests.
