TWO weeks before College opened Head Coach Cavanaugh with Assistant Coaches Bankart and Gilman took charge of the football squad of 56 "with but three veterans—Daley, Elcock and Whitmore." .... Pres. Nichols began his 3d year of administration, the 143d opening of the doors of Moor's Indian Charity School, on September 21st. . . . . Then the annual D. C. A. reception to the freshmen in College Hall—Speakers: Pres. Nichols, Managers "Nipper" Knapp of the football team, Ray Cabot of the baseball team, Hal Fuller for basketball; Captains Rus Steinert for track, "Kelly" Wells for hockey, Jack Nelson for tennis, Connie Snow for debating, Howie Crowell for the gun team, Jim Irwin for dramatics, Stan Weld for the D. C. A.; Managing Editors "Heinie" Urion for The Dartmouth, Bill Flint for the Dartmouth Magazine and Lyme Armes for the Jack-o'-Lantern H. E. McElwain, Jr. tried to dispose of more 1912 Aegis. . . . . The Sophs won the Football Rush by strategy. Larry Day cross-countried across the campus 10 hide the ball in College Hall, but the fight went on with an unusual number of individual wrestling matches. Palaeopitus members were in constant demand to hold their torches over exciting side shows.

Curtis as the individual star.

Sunday mail delivery at the carriers' window was discontinued at the Post Office. . . . . Dean "Chuck" Emerson announced office hours—9:4s to 10:15 daily for seniors and juniors and 1:45 to 3:15 for sophomores and freshmen. "Other time by appointment." .... Seating and monitoring in chapel were revised.

Bobby Hogsett, Capt. Daly, Jogger Elcock and Nate Whitmore were in the limelight with Dartmouth 23 and Bowdoin o, "a decisive victory" and the FreshmenExeter game ended in a 6 to 6 tie.

The sophomores took the fall basketball series on the campus, the freshmen winning 3 to 2 in the first game and the sophomore 5 to o and 3 to o in the next two. Lowe 'l5, Parrott 'l5, Hallett 'l4 and Willard 'l4 were outstanding players Jack Nelson 'l3 defeated H. W. Webber 'l4 in the tennis tournament finals and Nelson and H. S. Harmon defeated Webber and "Judge" Hugus for the doubles championship.

Over 300 business men attended the Tuck School Conference on "Scientific Management." The guests of the College stayed in dormitories, as those in Mass. Hall, especially, will remember.

Dartmouth 12-Colby o, then the week following Referee Tufts declared the score Dartmouth l-Holy Cross o as Holy Cross forfeited the game after Hogsett had made 6 points by 2 field goals, when the team was taken from the field after the third period to catch a train The Freshmen beat Cushing, a light but clever team, 23 to o.

Edward Tuck, accompanied by 200 alumni, arrived at the Norwich and Hanover Station, was met by the Senior Class and the College Band and escorted to the campus for the 16th Dartmouth Night. That night the speakers introduced by Pres. Nichols were: Edward Tuck '62, Prof. Laycock '96, Dr. J. M. Gile 'B7, Hon. Sherman Burrough '94, who paid a tribute to David Cross '4l, A. K. Lowell 'l2, Prof. H. D. Foster 'B5 and Hon. Samuel L. Powers '74.

Records fell in the fall track meet: L. A. Whitney 'l5, shot put, 45' 2", Franz Marceau 'l4, 2 mile, 9 min. 48 sec., freshman relay team, 1 min. 36 sec. The lead throughout went back and forth from 1913 to 1915 but the freshmen finally won Bud Whitney elected captain of freshmen track.

Miss Pendelton was inaugurated President of Wellesley The "Gaby Deslys Number" of the Jack-o'-Lantern appeared The first Faculty Dance in the Trophy Room was managed by Messrs. Licklider, Basye and O'Neill. An undergraduate orchestra furnished music.

After a stiff argument Dartmouth won from Vermont 12 to o. Llewellyn showed good generalship Eight more men were added to the 12 on the training table. .... Andover beat the Freshmen 6 to 3 with two drop kicks in the 2d half. Milt Ghee played a wonderful game.

The Trustees, after an important meeting, stated they would not limit the growth of the college. Plans for a new dormitory, the remodeling of Wentworth Hall for class rooms and the enlarging of Rollins Chapel were also announced.
