The population of the world has been increased at least by two since the last issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. Those directly responsible for this are Mrs. Florence Miner and Mrs. Mary Carpenter. Those indirectly responsible might also be mentioned, so just in order to complete the record let it be known that Dr. Theodore Richardson Miner (Babe to you) is the father of Theodore Richardson Jr., born July 15, 1936—814 pounds of bouncing baby boy. Russell Phelps Carpenter, best known in Hanover as Buss, had something to do with the advent into this world of Virginia Howe Carpenter, born July 11, 1936. Our Chicago correspondent seems to have slipped up on the detail of weight, but redeems himself by stating that Virginia has a brother, William, age 7; and a sister, Carlisle, age 3; and that this family of five live at 1017 North Euclid Ave., Oak Park, 111. Babe Miner describes the expansion of his family as follows: "A girl, two years old, Virginia by name; a son (details above), a catand a dog."
The Alumni Fund campaign, under the able leadership of Sherm Clough and splendid cooperation of his ten hardworking assistants, wound up in a blaze of glory. They were able to obtain 298 subscribers, which is an all-time "high" for the class, and also turned in about $4OO more than in any previous year. The class was in 23d place, which, I believe, is also our most dignified ranking. The Fund headquarters will rotate next year to Chicago. The head agent and all of his assistants will be located in that city. Our standing in 1935 was 24th place. The Boston crowd moved up to 23d place. How about it, Chicago?
Chick Burke is said to have delivered his contribution to the Alumni Fund to Sherm Baldwin in person. This spirit of personal contact is indeed commendable, although in Chick's case another angle should be considered. He is in the Sales Promotion Department of the Shell Oil Company and it is likely that Chick sold Sherm three or four hundred gallons of gasoline at the same time. Chick covers the territory of Rhode Island, part of Massachusetts and Connecticut, with headquarters in Providence. His home is in West Barrington, R. 1., he is married, and to date boasts of one daughter and has a son on order for early fall delivery.
The quasi-libelous story about Chick Burke printed above comes from our star reporter Sherm Baldwin, who submits the following which appears to be both harmless and enlightening.
Ed Peters, after a sojourn in Boston, has returned to his native Haverhill, Mass., where he is an agent of the State Mutual Life Insurance Company.
Carl Gray's business card reads: "VicePresident, Rath if Strong, Engineers, 80Federal St., Boston, Mass." Our correspondent informs us that Carl and Ralph Duffy were in Worcester the latter part of June, where they maintained '23, prestige by turning in stellar performances as ushers at Pinkey Booth's ('24) wedding.
Kelso Mairs came to light with the Boston Casualty Company, is married, and hangs his hat beside those of his wife, two sons, and two daughters in Waltham, Mass.

He has been in department store work since graduation, with Jordan & Marsh of Boston; Lord 8c Taylor, New York; Wolf & Dessaurer, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and to obtain really good coverage, the Broadway Department Stores, Los Angeles. He is the proud father of a two-yearold boy, Clint Jr.
Bill Evans has departed from the ranks of bachelorhood, although it took one of the class agent's persistent demands for a contribution to bring out the news. It seems that on April 10 last, Bill and a little Southern gal set sail together in the good ship matrimony. Bill is selling furniture for a Grand Rapids house in the South, and makes his headquarters at Columbia, S. C. Now that Bill and his bride are furnishing a house, Bill will no doubt sell twice as much furniture through the personal endorsement which he will provide. Bill's new address is 1830 Pendleton St., Columbia, S. C.
