Among this month's news is word from Tom Loucks, who writes: "Last summer, Charlie Pineo '69 and I took a few days off investment banking work from Denver Mining Finance Company to climb Crestone Peak and Crestone Needle, two of the 'hairier' (or is it airier?) 14,000-footers in Colorado. Charlie and I were both active in DMC while at Dartmouth and had not gotten together on a climb since then. We have tentative plans for more climbs this summer if we can squeeze in the time.
"Charlie is now off developing European business opportunities for Terravac, an environmental firm involved in cleaning up volatile organic carbons at hazardous waste sites, and I am busy advising clients—mostly European—on acquisitions in the U.S. natural resources sector."
Short shorts: Rob Uhlmann is head of Broadcast Data Systems, a Kansas City-based company with business and marketing offices in New York which monitors songs and commercials on 500 radio and television stations in 55 markets. He and his wife, Sally, live on a 640-acre ranch near Kansas City. At last writing, Don Zeman, who played four years of basketball at Dartmouth and coached basketball at Antioch Community High School in Illinois, was coach of women's basketball at the College of Lake County. David Alderson is treasurer of Pennzoil Company in Houston, with responsibility for corporate finance and bank relations, treasury operations, corporate credit, risk management, shareholder relations, and pension fond investment. He was formerly the company's assistant treasurer.
That's all for now. We'll be back with more news in October.
