CHINNING DAY, November first, found 204 freshmen, 48% of the class, wearing pledge buttons. Ten upper classmen were in the list. .... The College could turn to football and studies. . . . . Freshmen caps tried for the first time became a common sight.

Dartmouth defeated Amherst at Am- herst 18 to 6 in an exciting contest. A large crowd at the gym heard the game by special wire furnished by The Dartmouth. The green backfield was heavy and fast; Chet Dudley '13, Hank Llewellyn '14, and Jogger Elcock '12 made touchdowns and Moose Englehorn '14 kicked the three goals. Amby Ambrose '13, who transferred from Amherst, played halfback and was over anxious to make a good showing before his former team mates who were yelling "get him." He had the pigskin, got into a clear field and—dropped the ball The freshmen were beaten by Dean Academy by two drop kicks, each from the 10 yard line, score 6 to o.

NEW DORMS PLANNED

The committee on business administration searched long for a location of the new dormitory voted by the Trustees, and decided on two buildings, North and South Massachusetts forming Mass. Row.

Hanover moved to the Stadium to see the Green Team defeated by Harvard 5 to 3. In the first few minutes of play a punt was blocked, the recovery by Dartmouth fumbled and the ball crossed the goal line to be pounched on by Harvard and a touchdown had been made. The Dartmouth score was made by a sensational field goal by Hogsett in the 3rd period. The game was played in a sea of slime and slough. Elcock and Daley played fine games.

The musical clubs under managership of Tom L. Brennock went on tour with concerts at Manchester, N. H. and Boston. .... The tennis courts west of the gym were flooded for use of the hockey team; Capt. Carl Wells '12 directed practice Prof. Frankie Sherman left with Mrs. Sherman to spend the winter at Daytona, Florida Harvard Golf Club defeated the Dartmouth team 4 to 2, as Manager Collin Wells '13 and R. F. Cutler 'lO were the only two to win. The basketball squad reported to Capt. Mensel '12 in the gym. The team was the first to represent Dartmouth in the Intercollegiate Basketball League Paul Harmon '13 sprang a surprise and finished fourth in the Intercollegiate Cross Country race after completing the water-soaked six mile course.

Two fires: the B. & M station at the June burned and a blaze in 13 New Hamp., the room of G. F. A. Mulcahy '13 and E. F. Brady '13, destroyed some furniture and burned a hole in the floor.
