February 1936

Dartmouth's 26th annual Winter Carnival will be held this year on February 7 and 8. The Outing Club has again devised an elaborate program, featuring an Outdoor Evening presentation of Schneeweissen, the Grimm fairy tale about Snow White, and an intercollegiate ski meet which will determine the 1936 champions of the Intercollegiate Ski Union. A novel addition to this year's Carnival program will be a downhill ski race for women.

Besides defending its skiing championship, Dartmouth will meet the Harvard hockey team, the Yale basketball team, and the Princeton swimming team in intercollegiate competition (taring the Carnival week-end. The Dartmouth Players and the Handel Society are joining forces to present Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore on both Friday and Saturday nights, and other annual features will be provided by fraternity dances, fireworks, a torchlight parade, snow sculpture, and general skiing and skating. More than a thousand young women are expected to invade Hanover as the Carnival guests of Dartmouth students.

ALUMNI CARNIVAL

The annual Alumni Carnival will be held by the Dartmouth Outing Club on the week-end of February 22-23. The program will be divided between Hanover and Moosilauke, with skiing events for men and women. The Hanover portion of the program will center around the Outing Club's new ski tramway on Oak Hill,,while the Moosilauke events will revolve about Spyglass Hill Farm, the new headquarters for Dartmouth-at-Moosilauke. Busses will run from Hanover Inn to Moosilauke each day.
