The most significant development of the month in intramurals has been the reorganization of squash competition. Under the guidance of Tommy Dent, who has taken this sport under his coaching wing along with soccer and lacrosse, the usual elimination-tournament method has been dropped, and leagues such as those in hockey and basketball have been formed to compete in a round-robin tournament. These league teams have been active for the past month, and at this writing are in the final rounds to decide the play-off contestants. Sigma Chi has already earned the right to enter the play-offs.

In the intramural hockey league, Delta Kappa Epsilon, Delta Upsilon, Phi Gamma Delta, Sigma Chi, Theta Chi and Zeta Psi reached the play-offs by winning their respective league races. Of these six teams, Delta Kappa Epsilon and Sigma Chi have reached the finals and will meet for the interfraternity title.

In the dormitory hockey league, Middle Massachusetts, Middle Fayerweather, Lord, Smith, and New Hampshire Halls have won in their respective leagues, and will begin the play-offs to determine who will meet the interfraternity winner for the championship of the College. Interclass contests are scheduled for the latter part of February.

In the basketball competition, Alpha Sigma Phi, Phi Gamma Delta, Zeta Psi, Phi Delta Theta, Phi Sigma Kappa, and Chi Phi have reached the play-offs, while in the dormitory division, Wheeler, North Massachusetts, Russell Sage, College, and Woodward Halls will battle it out for the title. Russell Sage, College champions for the past two years, is favored to repeat.

Other tournaments are progressing in handball and ping-pong, with an innovation introduced by way of the consolation competitions for the teams eliminated in the opening rounds.

Intramural relations with Harvard will be continued on February 29 with a meet at Hanover in which the College champions in boxing, wrestling, hockey, and basketball will meet the House champions from Harvard. The meet will be the third such contest against the Crimson intramuralists.
