WALLACE WINS SKATING
March 1936

In the New Hampshire Open Skating Championships held on Occom Pond the first afternoon of Carnival, George Wallace '38 and Lawrence Goldthwait '36 swept all four events, the California sophomore winning the half-mile, mile, and two-mile races, while Goldthwait won the sprint at a distance of one-sixth of a mile. Goldthwait was second in the half-mile and mile events, with Wallace second in the sprint. Harold Putnam '37 took the special prize for the man leading the greatest number of laps in the two-mile race. This last-mentioned prize is in an American effort to avoid having a skater loaf along and then sprint in the last two laps.
