SNOW—145 INCHES

On the level—12 feet! It had been deeper. The Sierra Ski Club lodge, a large structure in July, appeared to be only one more snow drift this March 1. Entrance was made via the second floor gable door at 5:15 A.M. It was dark but warm—someone had been there—a fire was blazing in the huge fire- place and the aroma of hot coffee greeted us—thanks to Bill Nagle, friend of Dartmouth men, who grew up with the cabin. We are week-end guests of Selden C. Smith '97. Selden and Frank Wentworth '03, members of the Ski Club, had made arrangements for use by Dartmouth. Once again the Alumni Outing Club of the Golden Gate swung into action. Action uncontrolled! Result: Wilkinson '10, who last skiied with Fred Harris twenty-five years ago, wore the badge of D. O. C. member- ship, but found the sport SO different. Baldwin '19, another ski expert in his day, made just one good long run, the details of which must be given to SQUEAKS where we have more space. The same holds for those young fellows, Evans '08, Wallick '21, Almon '22, Winslow '20, and David Smith '35. Briefly, the old guard, Selden and Frank, held up best—possibly because of mature judgment.

A touch of professionalism entered our party when John Ellis '34, winter majordomo for the Sierra Mountain Club properties near by, paid us his respects. John has built a "Resident Manager's" log cabin (10' x 10' x 20' up) for the Club that beats even anything that Pete Knight could ever dream of for use in New Hampshire.

ANNUAL POW-WOW

Annual Dinner of Dartmouth men will be held in San Francisco, April 10. "Cotty" Larmon '19 will be present.with a message from Hanover. A big attendance is expected of Dartmouth men located in Northern California and Nevada and travelers who have carefully planned their schedules.
