Our annual dinner was moved up to February 23 this year to take advantage of the George Colton ('35) visit around the western circuit. It was a short term for retiring President Robert Allen '33, he having taken office only last May. Unlike the government dollar, however, Bob has made up the shortage through his quiet, effective leadership of one of the fullest years we have enjoyed. At the dinner held at the University Club, San Francisco, George gave us a most complete and personal report on conditions in Hanover. From classmate Dave Smith's ('35) introduction one might gain the impression that our Association is run in a most informal manner—WHICH IT IS—no restrictive by-laws. As near as we can learn, after the movie MyFirst Week at Dartmouth, our guest was taken on an "informal" trip around San Francisco with Lt. Jim Adams '43, Bill Abbott '27, Carl Bridenbaugh '25, Bun Bunnell '22 assisting Dave, and on the next day a quiet evening with the Paul McKowns ('23). Come again, George, and we'll have something "planned," formal if you like.
Officers elected for the ensuing year: President, "Dave" Smith '35; Vice-President, "Larry" Eager '23; Secretary-Treasurer, "Abe" Winslow '20; and Assistant Secretary, "Jim" Wilbee '42.
Above slate proposed by Nominating Chairman Tavey Taylor '28 and unanimously elected.
