There have been no significant changes or developments in the fraternity system at Dartmouth during the past year. A policy of watchful waiting has been adhered to pending the outcome of the investigations and studies of the Social Survey Committee, which has been at work for more than a year now.

A few minor points are worthy of mention. One is that for the past year each house party seems to have become less disorderly. Undergraduate control is working out here as in the dormitories. Another fact is that some sort of compulsory fire prevention for all fraternities seems really imminent at last. This old unsettled problem was stirred up again by the Alpha Sigma Phi fire on February 18. One other interesting and possibly significant fraternity event was the dissolution last spring of the chapters of Alpha Chi Rho and Phi Kappa Sigma, whose members then combined to form a new local fraternity, Gamma Delta Chi.
