Dr. Theodore R. Miner '23 (r) was honored

Dr. Theodore R. Miner '23 (r) was honored as the Class Treasurer of the Year at the annual meeting of Dartmouth class officers in Hanover last month. In making the award, Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary of the College, read the following citation:

To all your classmates of 1923 and an even greater number of other Dartmouth friends you are best known as "Babe" Miner, rather than as Dr. Theodore R. Miner, distinguished surgeon of Springfield, Massachusetts; Fellow of the American College of Surgeons; and Captain in the Medical Corps of the U. S. Naval Reserve, who in World War II served as Chief of Surgery at a naval base in the Pacific.

Dartmouth College has always been a part of your life. You are the son of George E. Miner, Class of 1889; the brother of Paul S. Miner, Class of 1918, and Stanley P. Miner, Class of 1922; and the nephew of James B. Sargent, Class of 1892. Among your many services to the College, you were president of the Dartmouth Club of New York and the Dartmouth Alumni Association of New York in 1941-42; president of the Dartmouth Club of Springfield in 1949-50; and more recently, a member of the National Committee for the Dartmouth Medical School Campaign.

But it is in recognition of your accomplishment as 1923's Class Treasurer that we pay tribute to you today. Since taking over the job in 1959 you have built on a strong foundation, increasing annual dues payers to 70% of the entire class, despite a rise in dues, and ALUMNI MAGAZINE circulation to 91% of the class. Your 67 Dartmouth family subscriptions are one of the largest such lists among all the classes. You have taken special pains with your mailings to classmates and have been an exemplary class officer in all your dealings with the alumni offices in Hanover. For your achievement, in both sweep and detail, and for being such an admirable Dartmouth man as well, we honor you as the 1963 Dartmouth Class Treasurer of the Year.
