Friday, June is, to Sunday, June 14 for the reunion in Hanover, and from the 14th to as long as you wish for the post reunion at Lake Morey. Publicity plans have been changed. Instead of the two broadcasts as previously announced you will have a weekly reminder handled by George Smith and mailed from New York City. Be certain that you answer these mailings and digest all the news therein. The Saturday night banquet is being handled by our Hanover residents, John Gile and John Stearns. The place will be the only D.O.C. club house in Hanover—on a direct line with Hitchcock. Ed Riley will act as toastmaster, and the event will be a closed one— speeches or informal talks by members of 1916. A good dinner, some beer, and plenty of bull. Be there and enjoy it. Golf tournaments and prizes during the day for those who wish to play. Art Fiske is heading this committee, with Jim Shanahan, Jake Story, and John McAuliffe helping. Remember it is for the contacts and the brushing up of old friendships. The reunion taxes are for men $13.00, which will include the buffet supper Friday night, the banquet on Saturday night, the dinner at Lake Morey on Sunday, your costume, and beer. For the ladies the tax will be $6.00, and this includes the buffet supper Friday night, the dinner at Lake Morey on Sunday, costume, favor, and for those who wish it some beer. For children the $3.00 tax will include their costume, Friday supper, and Sunday dinner. For rooms in Hitchcock you will hear directly from the College, and it is with them that you deal and not the reunion committee. Please bear that in mind. The question of drinks for the reunion is being handled by Bob Steinert, Bill Caldwell, Duff Lewis, and Rod Soule. My humble opinion is that it is being, handled to a T by them. In order that we may not experience the same results as '14 and '15 in regard to the headquarters in our tent we are omitting the usual keg on tap at the dorm. That procedure of having it there just about ruined the idea of the tent, as it was not suitable for breakfasting the next morning and did not offer a very pleasant place to lounge around. We will have beer at the banquet and at Lake Morey. So here you have a general idea of what you may expect in the way of events, costs, and time at reunion. For the post-reunion at Lake Morey, starting Sunday night if you so wish or Monday, Abe Lincoln, who has attended all of these events, is chairman of this feature. From George Smith you will obtain in more detail what Abe has lined up. The cost is only a fraction of the usual summer rates, and from those who have attended it is an event that you should not miss. Charlie Everett has been extremely busy promoting new uses for cotton, how successful you can tell from the announcement on March 8 by Secretary Wallace that $2,300,000 had been allocated to the experimenting with cotton for road building purposes. From New York City to Cincinnati was the jump that Ed Knight made so that he might judge the 14 pointers entered in this Kennel Club show. And Fred St. George Smith will have stepped before the minister and said "Ido" before you have received this issue. What I announced last fall as a fact and which I had to retract can now be stated as fact—April 13 was the day—other details unknown at present writing. Jim Colton is now manager of planning department of Reed-Prentice Company of Worcester, and casts his vote for reunion, which adds up to 53 signed for reunion even before we have started the big push. A very good letter from Hap Ward, who now owns up to Olean, N. Y., as his headquarters. From his letter reunion appears to be doubtful, but we will meet before that event and perhaps it can be arranged. Max Saben writes that after seventeen years of going to sea he has resigned from the Navy and was then en route to Africa, where he was to act as administrative advisor to the Republic of Liberia, one of the only two Negro republics. Bon voyage and much success, Max, in your new work. Sorry that you will be unable to be with us in Hanover. So for another month—one I hope that will be spent in preparation for the big event in June. In all the hurry, rush, and bustle of preparing for reunion, do not overlook Roger Evans and his valiant workers when they contact you for the Alumni Fund.
