New Inn Managers
June 1936

Ford K. Sayre '33, resident manager of Dartmouth-at-Moosilauke for the past three years, assumed his duties as manager of the Hanover Inn on May 18, succeeding Arthur P. Fairfield 'OO, whose resignation was accepted at the annual spring meeting of the Board of Trustees. Margaret Lincoln Sayre, wife of the new manager and co-director of the Outing Club headquarters at Moosilauke, at the same time assumed the duties of assistant manager to fill the vacancy left by Edwin H, Griffin '25. Announcement of the new management of the Inn was made by President Hopkins on April 27, following approval of the appointments by the Board of Trustees.

Known to a host of Dartmouth alumni and skiing enthusiasts as Fordie and Peggy, the Sayres have dispensed hospitality at Dartmouth-at-Moosilauke for the past three seasons, first at the Ravine Camp and then, after the Ravine Camp fire, at Spyglass Hill Farm, which was operated as a temporary base this past winter. Largely through their efforts Moosilauke has become one of the most popular skiing resorts in New England.

As an undergraduate Ford Sayre was director o£ Carnival, a member of the varsity soccer team, and a member of Cabin and Trail, Green Key, Phi Gamma Delta, and Sphinx.

Mr. Fairfield has had a high standing in his profession, and was formerly president of the New England Hotel Men's Association. He has also been active in politics, having served as a member of the New Hampshire State Legislature, has been Precinct Commissioner of Hanover, a director of the Hanover Improvement Society, and has held other important posts in the civic life of Hanover.
