The 37th annual meeting and dinner of the Thayer Society of Engineers was held at the Interfraternity Club in New York City on January 21. Fifty-six members of the Society attended this meeting, at which the new officers were elected. The elections to the committees were as follows: the Executive Committee: A. V. Ruggles 'O3, P. L. Thompson 'O9, F. H. Munkelt 'O9, J. S. Macdonald 'l4; the Advisory Committee: E. H. Hunter 'O2, C. F. Goodrich 'O6, and C. F. Conn C.S.D. 'B7.

As guest speaker, Robert C. Strong, Dean of Admissions, Dartmouth College, addressed the gathering on the subject of the policies and problems relative to the admission of applicants to college. The honorary membership recently bestowed on Mr. Otis E. Hovey by the A.S.C.E. was brought to the attention of the meeting by Mr. Charles F. Goodrich 'O6, who spoke of Mr. Hovey's many accomplishments and the merit of this distinction. The recently announced merger of the Robert Fletcher Fund with the Alumni Fund of Dartmouth College was explained to those present by Mr. A. C. Tozzer 'O3. Dean Frank W. Garran also spoke at the meeting on the subject of the current policies and educational program at the Thayer School.

It is expected that the annual Boston meeting of the Society will be held on Monday, March si. Alumni living in the Boston area will have definite notice before long.

A former member of the Thayer School faculty, Mr. Harold J. Lockwood, has recently been appointed head of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Manhattan College. After resigning from the Thayer School in 1931, Mr. Lockwood was chief engineer in charge of WPA projects in Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire.

Kenneth P. Coykendall '26 has transferred from Fresno, Calif., to Springfield, Mass., where he is now employed by the Adams and Ruxton Construction Company.
