A letter received from John W. Rogers states that he is still connected with the Brazelton Lumber Company. Tyler, Texas. He says that he spent his summer vacation "driving over the wide-openspaces of Texas." He visited his older daughter, the wife of Capt. R. L. Allen Jr., U. S. A., at Fort Sam Houston, where he says he renewed some of his old friendships at San Antonio. From there he drove to Midland, Texas, and visited the family of his younger daughter, Mrs. R. W. Hamilton. He states that his return home from Midland, 470 miles, was made in less than eleven hours, an average of forty-three miles or more an hour. This would indicate that the speed limit for automobiles in Texas is higher than in some states. He adds: "I am feeling much refreshed by thebreak in the routine of office work."
Rev. Levi Wild, who had for some time suffered an affection of his left ear, recently underwent an operation at the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in which the ear had to be amputated. He is now doing well.
