Endowment Program
November 1937

In connection with an informal gift and endowment program, sponsored by the Dartmouth Alumni Council and directed by William J. Minsch 'O7 in behalf of the Council and the Board of Trustees of the College, two booklets setting forth the historical background and present needs of the College have recently been published. The first of these is a 56-page book, attractively printed and bound, entitled Dartmouth College: A Statement of Its Objectives, Achievements and Opportunities. Written by Prof. Leon Burr Richardson 'OO, faculty member of the Alumni Council and author of the recent History of Dartmouth College, it has been prepared for limited distribution to interested alumni and friends of the College. The second publication is a loose-leaf folder of 44 pages, setting forth succinctly the Needs ofDartmouth College.

The latter booklet, dealing with needs, declares that unrestricted endowment funds are the imperative need of the College, and then goes on to list endowment funds for special purposes, scholarship and loan funds, endowment funds with income credited to the Alumni Fund, memorials and works of art, a Physics laboratory, a new auditorium, endowment of the Outing Club, a Graduate Club, Wentworth Hall restoration, a Music Building, a new chapel, a teaching museum, a modern language building, athletic facilities, endowment and a new home for the Thayer School, endowment and a new building for the Dartmouth Eye Institute, and endowment and facilities for the Medical School.
