Carl P. Ray '37, of Pawling, N. Y., was elected Chief of the Undergraduate Fire Squad and Merrill N. Davis '38, of Bradford, Pa., was chosen Foreman at the organization meeting of the undergraduate firefighters early in January. This year's Squad includes five members from last year's organization and seven new members recently appointed by Albert I. Dickerson 'jo, acting on behalf of President Hopkins.

New members include David M. Camerer '37, Hartsdale, N. Y.; John L. Williams '37, Westminster Station, Vt.; Louis M. Frick '38, Bloomfield, N. J.; Fred Hollingworth '38, St. Louis, Mo.; Lawrence C. Hull 3d '38, Brooklyn, N. Y.; James B. Allen '39, Montreal, Canada; and Robert F. MacLeod '39, Glen Ellyn, 111. In addition to Ray and Davis, the members from last year's Squad are Gordon P. Bennett '37, Swampscott, Mass.; John B. Handrahan '37, Nantasket Beach, Mass.; and T. Latta McCray '37, Dayton, Ohio.

The Undergraduate Fire Squad, which has a tradition of more than a century behind it, assists in the control of crowds at fires, directs students in helping the Hanover Volunteer Hose Company, supervises salvage work, and cooperates in all possible ways in safeguarding against fires. Members of the Fire Squad are excused from classes immediately whenever the fire whistle blows.
