Standard "D" Proposed
June 1937

A proposal to award a standard six-inch "D" for all Dartmouth varsity sports was considered by the Dartmouth College Athletic Council at its last meeting. The plan, which would do away with the prevailing system of three sizes of letters—five, six and seven inches high—was referred to Palaeopitus for its opinion on the proposed change.

At present, a seven-incli "D" is awarded to members of the varsity football team; a six-inch "D" to members of the baseball, basketball, track and hockey teams; and afive-inch "D" to all other varsity sports.
