Prof, and Mrs. Holden spent their summer vacation in Maine. He was appointed by the president of the New Hampshire Good Roads Association a member of a Public Relations Committee, whose object is ratification of the amendment to the New Hampshire Constitution making it compulsory that all revenues from registration fees, licenses, and gasoline tax and other special charges upon motor vehicles, be used solely for construction and maintenance of New Hampshire highways, and that no part of this income be diverted to any other purpose.

As delegate to the New Hampshire Constitutional Convention, he presented a resolution recommending an amendment of the Constitution to prevent the diversion of such revenues to other than highway purposes. This is one of four resolutions adopted by the Convention.

"Sliver" Rice and Mrs. Rice called at the Secretary's home in Hartford on June 13. They had been taking a motor trip through Vermont and were on their way to Hanover. Mrs. Rice seems to have recovered her usual health. "Sliver" was looking well and prosperous.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Loud and grandson spent three of the summer weeks at Balboa Island in the Pacific, between Los Angeles and San Diego.

Dr. C. W. Milliken reports from Jonesport, Me., that he spent considerable time during the year in a hospital and has been ill for several months, but is now quite well again. Mrs. Milliken was also very ill for several months, but is now quite recovered.

Dr. and Mrs. Lane spent January and February at Fort Lauderdale, Fla. They stopped over at Richmond and Washington on their return home. Walter declares that he can vouch for "the equable climate, maximum sunshine, and absence of humidity and insects on the East Coast at that season."

Dr. and Mrs. West, Dudley Jr., and his personable wife favored the Secretary with a short visit during Commencement Week. "Dud" and I lived over together college days at Dartmouth just as the college was being rejuvenated and renamed "The New Dartmouth." We had a good time together.

Secretary, River Junction, Vt.
