THE HESS LEHIGH FARMS, a few miles out of Allentown, was the spot selected for the first supper outing of the summer. June 24 was the date. These Indians from Eastern Pennsylvania (not to be confused with the Alumni Association of Philadelphia, as Time would say) turned out for the party arranged by Dick Kuhns: Hugo Gumbart '16, Bob Ritter '18, Shorty Gray '19, Ken Smiley '81, Charley Stickney '21, Andy Marshall '22, Lee Jamison '25, Bob Simonds '25, Walt Bowlby '27, Dick Kuhns '29, Bill Bucher '32, John Young, Sr., honorary member of '36, Court Young '41. As guests we were privileged to entertain Joe McCormack, Univ. of Illinois '19, a house guest of the Youngs, and Jack Haiston, who enters Dartmouth this fall from Pottstown. Several reels of "Life at Dartmouth" provided diversion. Os Skinner '28, our Easton executive committeeman, postcarded from New York City he was trying to set sail for Europe, and regrets were received from many others.
The second summer outing, originally planned for late in August, was postponed to September 16, too late to make this issue. It lookg like a good party, the plans calling for a joint pow-wow with the Central Pennsylvania Dartmouth Club of Harrisburg and environs. Art ("Al") Zulick '18 is attending to all arrangements up in the mountains near Orwigsburg.
Johnny Mullen '35 without warninglast February threw up his job as publicity man for the Community Chest of Reading and Berks County, and took himself to Hanover, N. H. In June, Johnny returned with an A.B. degree. Congratulations, Johnny Bob Ritter '18, the w. k. clothing store entrepreneur, has been appointed to fill the term expiring December 31 of Duffy Karnan '17 on this association's seven-man executive committee. Bob helps represent the AllentownBethlehem constituency. It will be recalled that Duffy, unfortunately for us, moved to Utica, N. Y., last spring to promote the interests of Sinclair Refining.
