ALTHOUGH THE QUESTION of Dartmouth's football supremacy over Cornell for the 1938 season is yet to be decided, at golf in Philadelphia all Ivy League followers already know the answer. Friday, June 3, found the alumni of both institutions battling it out at the Overbrook Golf Club, an annual fight that is never decided until the ball drops in the 18th cup. At the dinner which followed, some 35 men being present, announcement was made that the gross average of all Dartmouth players was 95.85 to Cornell's 96.90, and so for this year, at least, title to the perennial cup rests with Dartmouth. Pete Pray '15 turned in the best ball, with a 79, and Charlie Kehoe Jr. '34 posted an 81. Men, new to this tournament, included Ernest Hedler '35, Ralph A. Moran '35, and L. H. Kirhhofer '35.
Hugh Ken worthy 'll had such a good time, that he forthwith invited all Dartmouth golfers to be his guests at the Coatesville Country Club, on July 19, followed by a buffet supper at his home. The 40-odd miles' out to Coatesville proved to be no deterrent, and Hugh and his wife, Jane, and Hugh Jr. '41, found their home overrun with the biggest Dartmouth crowd, numbering 24, that Coatesville has ever seen. This time Pete Pray had to give up first place honors to Bob Clymer '39, who posted a 79, Pete coming in second with an 83. Lou Young and Lou Jr. '41 arrived in time for supper.
Now, with the advent of the first frosts, and the football season, and a football team that Coach Blaik modestly says will be "a hard-hitting, interesting group, in some ways capable of being a good team, we are expecting to send record-sized delegations to all the major games. To hear all the up-to-date expert dope we earnestly urge all alumni in our vicinity to make their Tuesday luncheon headquarters at the Dartmouth Club, 1219 Spruce Street, at 12:30 P.M. Remember, each and every Tuesday.
